A lil' about me

Daphne Tian sitting outside on campus

I'm interested in how people experience technology: what they need, where systems create friction, and how research can turn those patterns into better digital experiences. My work sits across user experience research, human-centered data science, and human-AI interaction.

Recently, I worked on multimodal human-AI interaction, including voice assistants that support older adults navigating online banking. I've also worked in industry on human-centered design research and CX analytics to inform product decisions. Outside of research, I contributed to Canadian AI governance through Gen(Z)AI, where I helped shape policy recommendations that were later presented to policymakers on Parliament Hill in Ottawa.
